Open this file in a torrent application such as http://www.utorrent.com/
You can then download the cd as an .iso directly from my computer.
You can only fetch parts from me (and any other users currently downloading it.. torrent is a SHARE application afterall). my comp is up enough that you should have the whole thing in a few days. Evenings, nights, and weekends are your best bet for long windows of oppertunity.
If there are enough requests, I will put up other support files this way. (such as the W42S cd, Sonic Stage.. etc)
By the way, does anyone know a simple and free online file host (non image.. photobucket and the like wont work)? I would rather just put all the torrent links in a side bar, so that you could just click and download the torrent file directly. (you are not downloading the CD, only a tiny file telling your torrent app how to GET the cd.)

Be advised, they are likely to only work on older versions of AMP, and if at any time you click on the update feature of AMP, they will all be overwritten.
This is a project I am thinking of restarting with a newer version of AMP. Is anyone good at reading Japanese? (I am horrible at it, and rely on dictionaries and online translaters more often than not). If you want to help, perhaps I could organize a translation pool.
I'll show you how to get into the files and edit them (using special software).

any hints on unlocking the w52s?
If by "unlocking" you mean to use the phone on another network or in another country, no.
I suppose it could be possible with some internal hacking and hitting the rom (note that initially unlocking a phone the first time is a pretty sophisticated hack. Once it is done, it becomes much easier to write a softhack.)
Its more discouraging in that the 42/52 wont accept global GSM cards put out by AU. I suspect that the telecom radio was not designed for multi-band (though this suspicion is unconfirmed), making it nearly impossible to operate on any other carrier.
I recently got a W42S, what is enclosed:
1. W42S phone
2. cradle
3. A cable with one end regular USB cable and the other end is is the same as the flat part of the power adapter. The question is this a charge cable but once I plug into computer on and one end to the cradle. Can not charge it.
4. A cable usb and mini usb: from computer to cradle.
Questions:
My battery ran out. Somehow one of the cable should be able charge the phone thu USB. But I do not know what is the default type for the phone, ie USB device or data comm. Since no battery, I can not adjust the phone at all.
I change my Window XP to Japanese. I did install the W42S-Setup1000. PNP did find my W42S while I had the battery power.
I can not download the SS @ the website described.
I guess my first order of business is to get battery charged. Then I will need may be W42S CD I do not have the AMP & Updated Sonic Stage(i have a v3.2). I didn't see a music player on the phone. Can you or anyone help me?
I get the phone just to listen to MP3, pix, video/cam because I do not have UIM and there is no service anyway.

Cradles for both the 42S and 52S are finikey, as are the usb charge cables (very thin).
Try this: on the 42S on the right side, under the keylock switch is a cover. Open it up and you will find a charge connector just like in your cradle. Try plugging USB charge cable in directly from the pc to the phone. If this does not make the charge light come on, then the cable is bad.
Also, you will need a valid AU SIM card in order to use all of the mp3 and photo features. There is only on other way to play MP3 without a SIM card installed. But it is not o good.

about the cables: the USB to mini USB cable that connects to the cradle will NOT charge the phone. Only a cable plugged into the wide flat connection will charge the phone.
So, if you are charging by USB, and transfering files, you will have TWO cables from usb on the pc (one is USB data cable to cradle mini usb, the other is USB to charge port on the cradle or directly into the phone.)

also i would have tech's here try to unlock the sim. i've asked before and was advised that it can't work with local networks. though not sure as to how far they can unlock the SIM so i could play MP3's (got the w52 as a gift)
My worry though is what are the risks involved if i allow an experienced tech to try and unlock it... and would there be recovery procedures available...
My understanding of the underlaying technology:
a: for the phone to work, it would need to be installed on a 3G network.
b: there may be additional software locks that prevent the phone from working on a non AU network.
c: Even if you were able to get the phone service itself to work, most of the functionality would be non functional, since it is dependent on proprietary server/client software operated over the AU network.
As for the sim card and mp3 functionality, this IS very possible. My advice would be to try to get ahold of a valid AU sim card from someone who has switched services, or moved out of the Japan. The sim should still 'unlock' the mp3 functions. Then you could attempt to cloan the sim card. If I had access to a good quality sim reader, I might try this myself.
